What is Impact investment
Impact investing embodies three key characteristics:
- Investor intention: Investors seek to allocate capital (debt, equity, or hybrid forms) to investments from which they expect to receive a financial return (ranging from return of principal to market rate returns) and a defined societal impact.
- Investee intention: Business models for investees (whether they are for-profit or non-profit enterprises, funds or other financial vehicles) are intentionally constructed to seek financial and social value.
- Impact measurement: Investors and investees are able to demonstrate how these stated intentions translate into measurable social impact.
The mission of Fondazione Sviluppo e Crescita - CRT
The OGR project
Leveraging on more than a decade on Welfare social inclusion, OGR project is an example of what CRT ecosystem targets while supporting the city of Turin in enabling a new technological and social innovation-driven ecosystem. OGR is already becoming a catalyst of profit and non-profit capital to mind the gap between artists, gallerists, “startuppers”, investors, corporates, venture capitals, institutions and more. All the elements above needed a platform where profit and non profit could be merged in an hybrid approach creating social impact.
Turin had this need, OGR is the answer. Hopefully even Italians cross-borders.
OGR Innovation and Cultural Center has become already a reference point for small businesses in the area.
Focusing on selected verticals, Fondazione Sviluppo e Crescita CRT is partnering with international and national firms to bring in Turin excellences in new fields both in technologies (e.g. blockchain) as well as art (innovative projects in contemporary art field).
Complementing the grant making offer of CRT ecosystem, the OGR platform finally provides a unique place to think, finance, shape and deliver social impact activities for Turin and beyond. The last 12 months are an example of how a platform like OGR can impact an entire community. CRT ecosystem undertook the major restructuring of the OGR complex based on best practices, with the aim of giving back to the city a space with a highly innovative and technological content. OGR is proudly inspired by the principles of advanced philanthropy, impact investing and sustainability, through constant collaboration between public and private actors.
